im considering getting my lip pierced but the only thing is you arenty allowed obvious facial peiricngs in work. there are a few girls in my wokr with lip piercings but all they do is remove the front ball of their piercing which is fine. howeve ri am wondering….when you get the actual piercing done for the first time, is it done with this kind of bar wereby i cud remove the fornt ball??

    @kiIIamaim no prob just another thing if have a job or plan on getting one i would ask the piercer for 16gauge jewelry or even 18 gauge that will increase chances that it wont scar. and the smaller jewelry size is easier to hide

    @kiIIamaim yep it depends on how long you keep it in, i have 9 and i recentley took one out because it was damaging to my gumline and its been out for a couple months but its still open but i have had it for 7 years if you only plan on keeping it for like 1 or 2 years then yes it will close completely and hopefully with no noticeable scarring (if it does it will be a very small white dot and will dissappear in like 2 months) do it professional if you want it clean, not your friends bedroom

    I did mine myself… Didn’t hurt at all(: I also pierced my nose myself. If u have it in for a while then take It out, since the tissue heals around it, it will leave a scar but eventually the hole will close up.

    i dont know the age limit in ohio, but if you are under age they will have your mom fill out a release form, thats normal. i got mine done like 2 days ago and it kinda hurt, there was just a little pinch but nothing to bad. umm, look on yelp for a tattoo and piercing shop, and call them and ask how long the piercer has been doing it and if they use disposable needles. make sure the piercer has been doing it for more then 5 years if you have any other questions, send me a message.

    you have to leave it in for a week, then go th the person who pierced your lip and get it changed then you have 2 keep it in for about 6 weeks to heal then you can take it out.

    You can switch the ring or barbell with a lip/labret retainer. They are clear plastic or glass jewelry that hides your piercing while keeping it from closing.

    You can’t do that. The jewelry won’t stay in.
    You’ll need a retainer. I’m not sure if a piercer will put a retainer in though for a fresh piercing. They’re clear and can only be seen if someone is in your face.

    you can remove the ball when you first get it pierced, as long as you dont take the whole peircing out. And always make sure to wash your hands before touching your piercing.

    Most piercing shops will let you decide weather or not you want a labret stud or a captive bead ring. If they don’t give you a choice and don’t give you a reason for it go somewhere else. Now as for removing the ball and just leaving the post in…this is a bad idea on an unhealed piercing for many reasons
    1st you shouldn’t be touching it often enough to remove the ball and then put it back on later
    2nd people who have healed this piercing are generally acustom to playing with it or otherwise holding the back with their tongue you on the other hand will not be and there for are more likely to loose it
    3rd while holding it in place is an option, it is only an option if you don’t have to do any talking, on a healed piercing they generally stay as there is no swelling pushing them back out.

    There are many more reasons but basically it breaks down to while this may work on a healed piercing it will not be safe to do with an unhealed one. Also somebody mentioned retainers, you can get the initial piercing done with PTFE and request a clear ball it will be less noticeable but still obvious to most employers. True retainers are not an option for unhealed piercings as they generally do not stay in place.
