Are Toyota’s a good truck.I heard there engines last forever but the body sucks. Which Toyota truck is the best.

Answer by y2bmj
The older ones tended to rot out really bad, but the newer ones fare much better in the long run. The only real downfall up until the latest tundras is that most toyota pickups really aren’t suitable for hauling anything really large, they dont have the motor, chassis or brakes to haul heavy items.

Hey mrwildfire. You do know that fords are made in three different plants in the US. Just the parts(as with any american “manufactured” vehicle) are outsourced from various countries

@MrCoolman10 you know they are made in America right? and most american trucks arent, fords are made in Mexico, dodges Canada. idk chevy. dont get me wrong i love dodge but i drive a tacoma cause they will easily outlast anything MADE BY AND AMERICAN COMPANY and do way better in off road situations. for example i had to pull out my cousins lifted f250 with mud tires and a tuner thatput it at 600hp to the crank, i am bone stock with half gone all terrain tires

@TR4CY209ER As long as you know where the air intake is, it’s fine.

I have a toyota without a snorkel, The air intake is placed right behind the drivers side (right for me) headlight. Basically I’ve taken it up to the bonnet in water, with no hydrolock. Damn I was nervous but!

Well I have a 2001 Tacoma and it now has 158,000 miles and never broke down, I maintain it well and keep it clean as well as wax it regularly. So I think there very good as long as you take care of it, but all trucks can do the same with good maintenance. Good Luck and GOD Bless

The old body’s in the 80′s had a problem, the beds were made in the US, they rusted fast just like a GM.
Now they are all made with much better specs on everything.
As long as you do general maintains they will run for well over 200K.
Toyota just built a new plant in Texas and have bigger trucks in the planing. Will make Ford cry when they cant sell a truck.

How long the engine lasts depends on you. Too many people have the idea that they can buy a Toyota and it will last forever, so they never bother to do maintenance on it.

I own a Tundra, and I just replaced the front brake pads for the first time at 83000 miles. The truck is solid and has no rattles or rust. I highly recommend one, especially the ’07 with 380 HP.

heck yeah they are the best truck out there. you have two options you can get the full size tundra or the mid size tacoma. they have really beefed up the tacomas in the past couple years. also you can get the tacoma in a 4 door.

Toyota has marketed their trucks well, thats it. I’ve owned 2 of their trucks and won’t own a 3rd. No the engines do not last forever and they don’t outlast any engine offered by an American manufacturer either. ESPECIALLY the 22RE that motor is a piece of crap known for popping head gaskets left and right and is the #1 most replaced motor out there, fortunatley jap motors are easy to come by as their laws require a complete engine replacement in every vehicle at 30K miles. Here are some things to ponder::
Inline (I) motors tend to last much longer than V motors because of Blance issues related to the V design.
Engines with less torque will last longer than engines with higher torque (remember Torque is the twisting motion that moves you HP does not move you at all, HP is mearly a measure of how quickly the torque can be applied.
The engine that Toyota built it’s reputation for having a motor that will run forever is the 22R not to be confused with the 22RE, VERY similar motor but not full of the design flaws the 22RE has with the upper half of the motor. 22R==Carbed 22RE==Fuel injected NOW taking into account that the 22R is an Inline 4 cylinder with almost NO Torque one can see how just the basic design of this motor says it should get alot of mileage, Toyota focused and pushed this HARD and it paid off by building a reputation that their engines run forever instead of the real world reality that Toyota’s have small underpowered engines. This was covered up by using THIN and I do mean THIN crappy metal when they built the bodies so that the vehicle was super light, this however resulted in the “Body Sucks” comments you’ve heard. Toyota’s really aren’t all that great, they were just marketed great!
