I would really love to get my eyebrow pierced in a few years since i am only 14. I already have alot of ear piercings so i think the eyebrow is perfect. What are the risks/pain involved in getting an eyebrow piercing?

    i just got my eyebrow pierced like 2 days ago, and it really didnt hurt at all, just the clamp that hurt

    @genoxs Ive pierced my own eyebrow, and upwards. and has not gotten stuck in my skin.. and i dont really understand how it would get ”stuck”

    My girlfriend had an eyebrow piercing a few years ago. As far as the actual procedure goes, it hurts- obviously- and it will be sore for a while. You have to be careful about bumping it into anything, keeping it clean, and soaking it in salt water to help it heal. I will warn you that her dad (who is a physician) convinced her to take it out not long after she got it, because there is an important nerve not far from where they pierce you, and if it’s not hit outright by the needle you still run the risk of it getting infected and damaging the nerve. Just something to consider.

    I’ll spare you the sob story about how old you should be to get a facial piercing, because I know it wouldn’t have worked on me. I got my eyebrow pierced when I was 16, and the pain was very minimal. It felt like a really quick pinch. My eyebrow was a little bruised and sore afterwards, but it was on its way to healing after a week.

    Risks – MAKE SURE your piercer opens the needle in front of you, there are so many piercers out there (at least from my experience) that make you wait outside of the room while they “prepare”. Tell him/her that you want to see the preparations. The risk of getting a keloid on your eyebrow stands its own ground too. (If you don’t know what that is, search for it on Yahoo.) It’s not very pretty. Also, the risk of tearing out the piercing is there too. This is what happened to me. I would change my shirts and forget that I had the piercing so I wasn’t very careful; this caused the piercing to receded little by little. After two years, I woke up in the middle of the night because my eyebrow hurt; it was a burning feeling. I looked it the mirror and it was hanging on by a little bit of skin. Gross, I know. I took it out and now have a small scar, which I kind of like. Gives character, I guess.

    One risk that no one seems to know about is the simple fact that that area of the face is very “veiny”, so if the piercer happens to pass the needle through a vein, it will bleed into your eyelid and cause a massive black eye. Short term however, it will go away.

    Pain depends on your tolerance, so its hard to say how bad the piercing itself will be, but its done and over with very quickly so it should be tolerable. But piercings cannot really be compared to one another. Each body part reacts differently, so be prepared to feel at least a little something.

    As far as general pain, the area will be sore for 3-14 days, so Motrin or other pain relievers may help you with that.

    The risks involved are much like any other piercing: rejection, infection. But there can also be damage to hair follicles causing a gap in your eyebrows and when the piercing is done, there is a higher risk for bruising than with other piercings. Bruising is common but a skilled piercer should be able to minimize most bruising, however, the piercing should not bleed excessively. If there is heavy bleeding, consult your piercer ASAP.
