The best answer for question, what is the best diet for hypertension?

I stood a baby last year. I have problems with hypertension and also have gained another 35 (through the pregnancy) i now can't get off. We have been trying different diets which do not work or that are higher in sodium than a few things i need. I will be getting frustrated with it. Please tell me some ideas (or foods) will be able to try to lose the excess weight. I'd appreciate any advice, web links that might help, or issues that been employed to suit your needs personally.
